Access to Mathematics through Language

In IM K–5 Math™, vocabulary is formally introduced after students have had time to make sense of mathematical ideas and learn new concepts. Join us in this conversation with math education professionals and school district leaders as we discuss ways to incorporate academic language practice into math instruction and share how these practices contribute to equitable and inclusive learning environments.

All students need opportunities to practice and develop mathematical language. During the webinar, IM Certified Facilitator, Courtney Ortega showcases features of the IM K–5 Math curriculum that support the development of academic language for all students and provide English learners access to complex math concepts.
