Ashli Black
Director, 6–12 Curriculum at Illustrative Mathematics
Ashli finds joy in discussing teaching practices that open the classroom up for all learners and doing math with others, especially kids. She began her career in education 19 years ago as a teacher in Washington State. Prior to joining IM full-time, Ashli also worked as a curriculum consultant, substitute teacher, and presented at state, regional, and national education conferences. At IM, she served as the lead author for grade 8 and algebra 2 before becoming the director of 6–12 curriculum.

Emily Logan
6–12 Professional Learning Specialist at Illustrative Mathematics
Emily has been passionate about mathematics education for over 20 years, working as a teacher, curriculum consultant, adjunct professor, and now as a 6–12 professional learning specialist at Illustrative Mathematics. She earned both her BA and MA in mathematics education from the University of Northern Iowa, with a special focus on supporting students with IEPs, and she’s been a leader in state-level initiatives like Iowa’s Math Standards Revision Team and multiple MTSS leadership teams. In her current role, Emily helps create professional learning that supports teachers in bringing problem-based mathematics to life for all students.

Tina Cardone
Specialist, 9–12 Content at Illustrative Mathematics
Tina was the geometry lead for the first version of the IM high school curriculum and is now a content specialist for IM. Before that, Tina spent over 10 years teaching high school math at public schools in Massachusetts. Tina organized the ideas of an online community that networked on Twitter to publish the book Nix the Tricks in 2013 (followed by a second edition in 2015). Tina has presented at regional and national conferences on nixing tricks in the mathematics classroom, language routines to support student learning, and equity in IM K–12 Math.
